Friends' Academy

Knowledge is strength

Pre-primary Curriculum

The school curriculum is an amalgamation of all best practices in Early Childhood Education and follows an integrated approach to learning.

Our school has an open environment where young children not only excel in language and cognitive learning but also develop their physical and socio-emotional skills by promoting independence, curiosity, decision-making, co-operation, persistence, creativity and problem-solving skills – the fundamental skills that help in determining success in an adult’s life.

We follow a structured daily routine like weather chart, attendance, word wall, circle time, snack time and many other activities as per the day’s schedule. This makes them learn abstract concepts like time management.

Considering the importance of language, we lay emphasis on English. We have adopted Karadi Path Methodology for the enhancement of the English skills through the Power English Program for Jr.K.G. and Sr.K.G. and English Climbers for Nursery section. We believe in hands-on learning experiences and provide an active learning approach ensuring that each child’s individuality is nurtured.

Our school also gives great importance and respect to Indian culture and its diversity through celebration of various festivals.

Apart from academics, we have regular field trips, puppet shows, matinee shows, green initiatives, etc. There are various in-house and external competitions and activities which facilitate social development and provide sheer joy to the young learners.

Assessments:

At Friends’,we do not view assessments as the sole measure of a child’s potential. As we concur with the National Curriculum Framework: 2005, ‘Learning for the sake of being examined in a mechanical manner takes away the joy of being young, and de-links knowledge from everyday experience’,  our assessment includes an array of method, representative work, records of observation by teachers, records of conversation with children, etc.

Dear Readers,

Greetings from Friends’ Academy!!!

At the outset, we feel proud to have been accredited by the ICSE Council. It has been a dream come true. Having said that, it will now be an uphill task for all of us to wear the crown well and march ahead towards not only educating but also empowering young minds.

Aristotle once said that, “educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” It is very important to realize the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. Our efforts should be to unlock this treasure.

A child always learns through examples. Let us be good role moles for our children and their peers so as to inculcate in them the virtues like empathy and respect; respect not only for mankind but also towards environment.

With Regards,

Mrs. Monica Shrotri
