Friends' Academy

Knowledge is strength

Primary section curriculum based on I.C.S.E. (Grade I-IV)

The children of 21st century need to survive and thrive in increasingly competitive global landscapes.

We need to prepare our children for jobs of the future where they need to solve challenges with more limited resources.

So, we at Friends’ Academy have chosen the ICSE curriculum to provide a safe, stimulating and challenging place for your child to begin his or her education. We help them develop to their full potential as individuals and as members of a large group.

SCHOOL’S METHODOLOGY

ICSE curriculum focuses on the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of a child. These all areas are taken care of while framing a balanced curriculum and co-curricular activities for children. The latest strategies are adopted to keep the students involve in the teaching learning process.

The curriculum starts with an emphasis on learning basic facts and gradually moves to detailed understanding of concepts, through interpretation and evaluation as students progress to higher classes. It is built around the principles of knowledge, understanding, application and skills. Projects and application of knowledge form an integral part and aid the development of analytical skills.

SUBJECTS OFFERED

Primary section serves as a preparatory stage for the students to cope with the ICSE programme in higher classes. Students study English as the first language, Hindi as the second language, Mathematics, Social science, Environmental science and Computer as core subjects.

EVALUATION

The evaluation is one of the important components of school curriculum. School follows continuous and comprehensive evaluation for grade 1 to 4.

BEYOND ACADEMICS

Students are given numerous opportunities to take part in various competitions, contests and competitive exams both at intra and inter school level. These opportunities bring out the hidden talents of children.

Field trips and excursions enable children to expand their understanding of the world from academic and cultural perspectives. They participate in dance, drama, fine arts, western and Indian music, yoga and other activities. They participate in inter house cultural and sports events, thus developing leadership skills and team spirit.

School even organizes various workshop, seminars etc. for the development of competencies, skills and even creates awareness among the pupils.

Friends’ Academy was and will always, be a true center of learning. We also urge the parents to keep hand in hand as we implement this curriculum to prepare kids for tomorrow.

Dear students, parents & well-wishers,

It's time to thank God for the immense blessings that we have received throughout our journey. Our 2017-18 academic year, once again has been a year rich in glory as we got crowned as ' Friends' Academy ICSE School '.Receiving affiliation from ICSE Board was indeed a Herculean task, but our diligence, devotion and dedication earned us this success. At this note, with a proud heart, I welcome all the readers of this magazine.
I believe, "Education is a magic aspect of development of any modern society. Education will direct the person to move in right path at all times in life."

At Friends’, we wish to prepare our students to follow knowledge like a sinking star beyond the utmost bound of human thought. Education is not about teaching carried out in classroom environment, but it is the basis of every life activity. It is therefore a combined effort of parents and teachers to educate a child.
Parents and teachers are role models for children. So, keeping oneself organized and focused solves many problems relating to students' disobedience and procrastination. We should see to it that the child refers the daily planner and the calendar. The habit of reading should be encouraged at an early age. Also, planning a realistic schedule for them with intermittent breaks is most desirable. This reminds me of a biblical quote, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." (Hebrews 12:11)

As children grow the complexity of studies increases. Students should therefore learn to divide their work over a number of days allotted for an assignment.  Smaller tasks are manageable compared to larger demanding ones.

We also need to give them a patient hearing and allow interaction. Together, we should stress upon their involvement and all round participation. Children should be taught to take responsibility for their actions. The values of tolerance and empathy should be imbibed in them during their formative years. All these efforts will definitely not go in vain, but help us to mould better citizens who can contribute their best to make our country a Superpower.
     As it is rightly said,
" Little drops of water, little grains of sand,
Makes the mighty ocean and the pleasant land."
